Who are Create?

Create, founded by Dan McCormick and Sienna Mori in 2022, is pioneering the creatine supplement space. Based in New York City, the company’s mission is to reshape perceptions of creatine and make its benefits more accessible. By leveraging educational content and transparent branding, Create has positioned itself as a leader in the creatine supplement industry, offering NSF-certified and third-party-tested products—backed by a highly loyal customer base.

Create's direct-to-consumer (DTC) store offers both one-time purchase and subscription options, allowing customers to receive a monthly supply of creatine gummies. Now, they are expanding their product line with the introduction of Daily Performance Gummies, which combine creatine with vitamins and functional mushrooms to further support health and fitness goals.

The One-Time-Purchaser problem

To encourage daily creatine use as part of a wellness routine, Create offers a monthly subscription service to its DTC customers. Like many subscription brands, Create finds that new customers often opt for a one-time purchase before committing to a subscription.

The challenge? Many of these one-time purchasers forget to restock—leading to customer churn and fewer people consistently incorporating creatine into their wellness routines.

Create wanted to test whether a thoughtful, handwritten post-purchase note could serve as both a reminder and an encouragement to maintain daily usage—ultimately increasing the repeat purchase rate. Having seen how Paper Run has helped brands like Presscription Juices, AKT, and Heights achieve similar results, they decided to give it a try.

Measuring "Lift"

The Create team partnered with Paper Run to test whether a handwritten post-purchase note could increase repeat purchases among new one-time purchase (OTP) customers.

Leveraging our integrations with Klaviyo, Shopify, and Recharge, we set up an automated Direct Mail flow for first-time OTP customers. Additionally, we utilized our incrementality testing functionality to measure the impact:

  • 💌 Test Group: New OTP customers who received a handwritten post-purchase note.

  • ❌ Control Group: New OTP customers who did not receive a handwritten post-purchase note.

This test would allow Create to measure the impact on "repeat purchase rate" by sending these handwritten post-purchase notes.

Encouraging customers to make a second purchase is one of the most effective ways to drive retention and establish a new habit—like taking creatine daily.

The handwritten post-purchase notes led to a +22% increase in repeat purchase rates among OTP customers. Needless to say, the test was a success! As a result, we're now automating the printing and delivery of these notes to all new OTP customers for Create—completely seamless and hands-free.
